TLDR

Most talent problems that get budget attention aren’t the real problem, they’re the symptom that got loud enough to notice. The free OGC Talent Health Snapshot gives HR leaders a five-minute, evidence-based way to see where their talent system actually needs attention before committing resources to the wrong fix.

HR leaders can typically name their most pressing talent problem in one sentence. Turnover. Leadership that is not getting results. Training that does not stick. What is much harder is knowing whether that problem is actually the problem, or just the one that happened to surface first.

Our position, after years of doing this work, is that the presenting issue is rarely the real one. It is the symptom that got loud enough to demand a budget line. The organizations that make lasting progress are not the ones that move fastest on the symptom. They are the ones that pause long enough to ask what in the system produced it.

Why Most Quick Assessments Do Not Actually Help

There is no shortage of free HR quizzes online. Most of them share the same flaw: they generate a score, sometimes a personality type, and very little else. A score with no underlying model attached does not tell you what to do next. It tells you where you land on a scale nobody has defined for you, disconnected from any real understanding of how talent systems actually break down. That is why most people take one of these assessments once and never think about the results again. There is nothing to act on.

We built the OGC Talent Health Snapshot differently, because it is grounded in an actual model of how talent systems work, not a generic engagement checklist. It is a free, 17 question assessment, built on the OGC Talent Health System, that takes about five minutes and evaluates four specific domains: Define Expectations, Diagnose and Measure, Develop Leaders, and Align Systems and Processes. You get instant results ranking each domain from very high to low priority, no email required.

What the Snapshot Is, and What It Is Not

A few things worth being direct about. This is a self reported diagnostic, not a comprehensive organizational assessment. Seventeen questions, answered by one person, capture a meaningful starting signal, not the full picture of how your talent system actually functions day to day. It does not replace a full organizational assessment, and it is not designed to.

What it does do is give you a structured, evidence grounded starting point instead of a guess. That is a meaningfully different thing than most free tools offer, and it is worth being honest about both what the Snapshot gives you and what it does not.

The Real Signal Is Not One Low Score

Here is the thing most HR leaders miss when they look at results like this: a single low score is useful, but it is not the finding that matters most. What actually tells you something is the pattern across all four domains. An organization that scores low on Diagnose and Measure but strong everywhere else has a specific, contained gap. An organization that scores inconsistently across two or three domains at once is looking at something more structural, expectations that are not clearly defined feeding into development that is not targeted, feeding into processes that send mixed signals. That inconsistency is the real diagnostic value of the tool. It is not designed to hand you an isolated answer. It is designed to show you where the system itself is under strain.

You Do Not Have to See the Whole System to Start

This does not mean you need a full audit before taking action. If turnover is your most urgent problem, start with turnover. But start with an honest picture of what is actually driving it, rather than assuming the first visible symptom is the whole story. That is the entire premise behind the OGC Talent Health System: every entry point is valid, and every entry point connects to something larger.

The Snapshot exists to give you that picture in five minutes, for free. Take the OGC Talent Health Snapshot and see what your results actually reveal about where to focus first.

Ready to Go Deeper?

The Snapshot gives you a five minute read on where your talent system needs attention. If your results point to something more structural, that is exactly the kind of finding worth a real conversation. OGC helps organizations move from a Snapshot result to a clear understanding of what is actually driving it, and what to do about it. Schedule a conversation to talk through what you are seeing.
